Wholesale Packaging Boxes
Boxes are used on a daily basis all around the world for a range of different purposes. From placing presents inside, to storing items away, a lot of the uses of boxes are seen in a domestic setting. For those using them in this way, they are often bought singularly and are not used in a heavy-duty way. Whilst this is useful for those who need boxes in such a way, there is also a need for boxes that are more heavy-duty for more industrial or commercial purposes.
What’s the difference between different types of boxes?
The difference between these two types of boxes is that those boxes created for light use often use less durable material. The cardboard will be less rigid as there will be fewer layers in the cardboard. At times, you will even find that some only come with one layer of thick paper. This helps to keep prices down for the consumer as there are fewer materials being used.
It’s important to keep prices low for consumers so that it’s affordable for them to buy and unlike more commercial boxes, they come with different patterns and colours on the exterior which makes them suitable for their purpose of gifting. But the catch with this is that whilst these sorts of boxes are less costly, it does also mean that you need to keep an eye on the quality and buy from a reputable packaging wholesaler.
Because the material used is often thin, it can be more prone to damage. For example, if water is spilt nearby not only will the water get into the box and therefore onto the item inside, but the box itself will also get damaged and will be unlikely to resolve itself as it dries. If a thin material becomes damaged with water it's likely to stay permanently damaged.
Whereas if it was a thicker piece of cardboard with several layers, it’s more likely to be able to dry and retain its strength and structure. In the same way, dropping the box can lead to holes and tears. Given that cheaper, domestic boxes only have one thin layer of protection, this can lead the actual product inside to get damaged too. If a more durable box was used, then it is more able to protect itself and more importantly, the product inside.
Saying this, consumers don’t really need anything more heavy-duty than what they can get in their local shop. They will only really be using them to give a present to someone or to place a few items in away for storage. The places that will need higher quality boxes are large industries because the kind of work that goes in here can easily lead to damage to the boxes.
Why would you buy heavy-duty boxes?
If after reading this, you have determined that your product will need more protection than what cheaper boxes can give, you will need to go for reinforced wholesale packaging boxes. This could be that you have something heavy that a thin bag won’t be able to withstand, or maybe you have to send out a large, heavy order. If the latter is true, it's important to efficiently protect the item as if the buyer receives your product and it’s damaged, then they will need to claim a refund or replacement item.
Terms and conditions usually state that if you want to return an item, it has to be in the same condition as when you purchased it. So to receive their money back, it’s important that you deliver goods in a reusable box that your buyer can re-package the product to protect it whilst it’s in transit. Delivery drivers tend to handle parcels a little roughly because they have so much to get through during the day and this can lead to damage on both the box and the item inside.
Due to this, it’s important that you buy a better quality box to protect the item during transit. Although these are typically reserved for purely commercial purposes, you can still find them on sale to the general public. A good place to start for these boxes would be your local post office. If they don’t stock these though, then you could ask at storage solution businesses. These places stock loads of heavy-duty boxes because that is what their business revolves around.
